Archbishop of Canterbury given warm welcome to Ghana

Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Portal Welby was given a warm welcome to Ghana at the Kotoka International Airport on Wednesday, October 29, when he touched down to begin a three-day official visit to the country.

He is in the country with his wife, Caroline Eaton Welby.

The principal leader of the Church of England has since left for Kumasi, where he was received with a guard of honour.

He was met on arrival in the Ashanti Region by Most Reverend Dr Daniel Yinka Sarfo, the Archbishop of Internal Province of Ghana.

He is scheduled to pay a courtesy call on Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and attend the National Inter-faith Dialogue Conference at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).

He is also expected to visit Vice President Paa Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur and Mayor of Accra Dr Alfred Oko Vanderpuije.
