Managers learn Communication and Leadership skills

Some selected Managers of Community Based Organizations (CBOs) and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) in the Upper East Region are attending a five day training programme on communication and leadership.

The training programme, organized by the Restorative Seed Society and sponsored by the Libre Foundation, a Netherland based Organization, is aimed at equipping the participants to appreciate certain fundamental principle of communication and leadership and to apply them to enhance productivity in their organizations.

The participants are being taken through topics including Leadership Theory and Communication Skills, Listening Skills and Conflict Management, Leadership Skills as an Activity and Time Management, Leadership Instrument as an Inspiring, Instruction and Coaching and Leadership Skills as Goal Setting and Presentation.

Mr Hillary Adongo, the Executive Director of the Restorative Seed Society lauded the Libre Foundation for the annual programme and indicated that apart from the training programme there were usually follow up trainings to assess how the participants were using the acquired knowledge at their respective operational areas.

He stressed that best communication and leadership practices remained two indispensable ingredients needed to deliver a change in communities and urged the participants to take the training programme seriously.

Mrs Jeannelies Lof , a Trainer on Communication and Leadership Skills of Libre Foundation, said the Foundation had been organizing such programmes in many African countries including Uganda, South Africa, Kenya , Zambia among others.

She noted that the Foundation was targeting CBOs and smaller NGOs for the training because they were limited in terms of funding and stated that it was very important to build the human resource base of such organizations.

Mrs Lof who facilitated the training session together with Ms Wieneke de Waard, the Co-trainer, gave the assurance that there would be more of such training programmes and follow-ups in the Region.
