Court refuses bail for impersonated service person

The Takoradi Circuit Court A on Monday refused an application for bail for Osei Bernard, who allegedly falsified document to enable him to benefit from the monthly allowances of the National Service Scheme.

The lawyer for the accused, Lawyer Fiifi Buckman raised issues with regards to jurisdiction and the power of the court to try the case at the Takoradi court instead of the Tarkwa court where the incident occurred.

The presiding Judge refused him bail since his plea has not been taken and therefore adjourned the case to October 30 this year. The accused person successfully registered with the NSS at Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipal Assembly and was posted to the Dwenase Methodist JHS.

On September 25, the accused was arrested at the Regional NSS office after he was suspected of using cruel means to obtain pincode to register for national service as well as obtaining all necessary documents through foul means by officers of the Bureau of National Investigations.
