Manhyia police arrest twenty eight suspects

Twenty-eight suspected criminals, including a man on the police wanted-list, have been arrested in a swoop mounted by the Manhyia Police Division in Kumasi.

Francis Assibey, alias “Sisco” has been on the run for more than three weeks, after defiling a 13-year old girl at Abbey’s Park at knife-point.

Police Superintendent Frank Abrokwah, Acting Divisional Commander, told the media that the suspects had been involved in various criminal activities – pick pocketing, cellular phone-snatching, gambling, wee-smoking and swindling people of their money.

They have been operating at Kejetia, Ash-Town, Roman Hill, Dr Mensa and French Line.

Their arrest comes amid stepped-up efforts by the police to go after criminals in the metropolis and make life uncomfortable for them.

Supt. Abrokwah said they were intensifying day and night patrols to keep the law abiding adequately safe.

The suspects, who are being held in police custody, would soon be arraigned before court.
