For the second time, an Accra circuit court presided over by Jennifer Myles Ahmed has questioned the police for preparing a defective charge sheet.
The judge had at the last adjourned date described the charge sheet prepared by the investigator handling the case involving Vincent Dzakpasu and two others as one ‘blatant errors.’
She wondered why the prosecution had prepared a docket which did not capture the full details of the case and accordingly adjourned the case to October 22, hoping the errors would be rectified.
However, at the trial of the case yesterday, the investigator presented another fact sheet riddled with errors to the disappointment of Mrs Myles Ahmed.
She said, “Still errors, in fact, investigator, I don’t want to lambast you; don’t let me embarrass you in open court, bring a proper fact sheet.”
Mrs Myles Ahmed nonetheless asked the investigator to rectify the errors by October 27, the date for the next hearing of the case.
The three accused persons-Vincent Dzakpasu, a student, Frank Biakonla, a computer engineer and Biaso Issah, a student, pleaded not guilty to charges of conspiracy and causing harm proffered against them by the prosecution.
They were admitted to bail in the sum of GH¢30,000 each with two sureties.
The sureties are also to provide valid identification cards before executing the bail.
The court was hearing a case in which some motor-riding rampaging youth allegedly descended upon the portion of Alajo in Accra and slashed young men on sight with sharp objects.
Six persons, including Robert Hormor and Kwabena Adjei, sustained various degrees of injury in the incident.
The swift intervention of the Greater Accra Regional Police Commander, DCOP Christian Yohunu, had calmed tempers of worried residents who threatened to protest against what they saw as an attempt at killing the case by preventing it from going to court.
That portion of Alajo, according to residents, has suffered in recent times from motor-cycle riding youth, who snatch mobile phones from people, especially ladies at knife-point.
