Police to tighten security at Kejetia Lorry Terminal

The Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Kofi Boakye, was prompted into action by a Chronicle publication to visit the Kejetia Lorry terminal last Thursday to assess the security situation there.

He led a team of armed police personnel to monitor the security situation at the place to enable the command implement new strategies to boost its operations.

Traders, passengers and drivers who operate at the Kejetia terminal heaved a sigh of relief following the unannounced visit by the police chief, which led to the arrest of 38 criminals.

DCOP Boakye gave the assurance that efficient security measures would be put in place to protect life and property, in line with the mandate of the police, to enable traders, drivers and travellers go about their usual businesses without fear revealed that there would be night patrols within and around the Kejetia terminal from 8:00 p.m. to midnight, with the 24 personnel, including two inspectors, at the terminal, in collaboration with the visibility and accessibility team and detectives to ensure peace and order.

The commander cautioned miscreants who are making the terminal uncomfortable for travellers, drivers and passengers to put a stop to their activities.

He said the police were more than determined to make sure the place is not conducive for their operations.

DCOP Boakye said anybody whose activities tend to be a threat to innocent citizens should bear in mind that they would not be spared when they find themselves on the wrong side of the law.
