Bawumia is my running mate in whom am well pleased – Akufo-Addo

Presidential hopeful, Nana Akufo-Addo has declared that when chosen as the New Patriotic Party’s flagbearer for the 2016 elections, there can only be one person to partner him and that fellow is Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

According to Nana Addo, he would retain the economist cum banker for the third time because of the dynamics he brings on board. He said as a younger man, the oxford trained politician brings different perspectives to the table adding that the chemistry between them allows them to work and get along well.

Nana Addo made these disclosures when he interacted with Paul Adom Okyere on his Good Evening Ghana show.

On perceived division in the party, Nana Akufo-Addo was emphatic that whereas every human institution is not perfect, the claim of division within the NPP is overblown by the media and in the media.

Even as the New Patriotic Party delegates gear up to elect a presidential hopeful out of three candidates, former president Kufuor who voted in the past has opted to abstain from voting this time, asked about his views on the former president’s decision, Nana Addo stated that the choice of voting or not lies in the bosom of the former president.

He said although he would have loved for Mr. Kufuor to vote for him, he respects his decision. The one time MP and Minister of State expressed his fondness of the ‘Shei Nana’ slogan which appears to be the one supporters will trumpet most after ‘Nana oo Nana’ and ‘Yenim wu Fri Titi’ when the presidential race begins.

Over 140,000 delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will vote on Saturday October 18 to elect a presidential candidate out of a pool of Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo, Alan K. Kyerematen and Hon. Francis Addai-Nimoh.

Nana Addo ran for President in the 2008 and 2012 presidential elections as the New Patriotic Party candidate but lost to President Mills and Mahama respectively. He is from Kyebi in the Eastern Region and married to Rebecca Akufo-Addo with four children.
