Farmer caged for murder

A 26-year-old farmer Peter Tetteh is in police grips for allegedly stabbing one Tetteh Yohamey to death at Akpo, near Hunhunya in the Eastern Region.

According to reports, Peter realized that someone had defecated on some of his cabbages when he went there on Friday evening.

He rushed home and confronted his sister, who said she had not been to the farm.

Some neighbours indicated that they saw the deceased coming from his farm earlier.

Armed with the information, Peter rushed to the house of the deceased and confronted him over the issue but the deceased denied the accusations.

Peter thereafter travelled to his house.

A source said after some time, the deceased stormed the farmer’s house with a knife to attack him for wrongfully accusing him.

In the ensuing fight, the suspect allegedly overpowered the deceased and snatched the knife from him.

The suspect subsequently stabbed the deceased in the neck and he bled profusely.

Reports said the deceased shouted for help but died before being transported to the health facility.

Peter took to his heels but he was discovered by two residents who were part of a search party.

He was handed over to the local chief, who in turn ordered that he should be sent to the police to assist in investigations.

According to the Regional Crime Officer, Chief Superintendent Fakye Kumi, who confirmed the story, Peter was brought to the Regional Police Headquarters at about 10:00pm though the incident occurred at about 5:00pm on Friday, October 10, 2014.
