The Afigya-Kwabre District Assembly has vowed to find money to complete all development projects started in the various communities to bring progress to the people.
Mr Kwaku Oppong-Kyekyeku Kaakyire, District Chief Executive (DCE), said they were determined to prevent state resources put into them from going waste.
This was when he led the assembly’s projects monitoring team together and reporters of the Ghana News Agency (GNA) to inspect a number of on-going and stalled projects in the area.
These are being implemented with mixed funding – District Development Fund (DDF), internally-generated funds (IGF) and the National Health Insurance Fund, and they include school blocks at Kyekyewere, Adukro, Ahenkro, Nkukua-Buoho, Mpobi, Ankaase and Hemang, nurses quarters at Tetrem, expansion works at the Afrancho Health Centre and a police station at Ankaase.
The rest are an abandoned Ghana Education Trust Fund (GET-Fund) classroom block at Amponsakrom, and another at Ejuratia, as well as rehabilitation works on the Aboabogya-Ahenkro, Ejuratia-Ankaase, Kodie-Aduman and Fawoade-Aboabogya roads.
The team reinforced the need for value for money during discussions held with contractors and the beneficiary communities.
The GNA had visited the district under the STAR-Ghana’s sponsored media auditing and tracking of development projects, an initiative launched to put a spotlight on how government’s resources were helping to transform the lives of the people, particularly the rural population.
The goal is to ensure transparency, promote accountability and good local governance.
Mr Oppong-Kyekyeku expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work done on the on-going education, health and security structures, and urged the contractors to sustain the momentum.
