Driver jailed over wee

A Driver, Samuel Sowah, was on Monday sentenced to one year imprisonment for possessing 29 rolls and 12 wrappers of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp without lawful authority.

Samuel who pleaded guilty to the charge was also fined by the court to pay hundred penalty units.

Police Inspector Acheampong told the court that the complainants are police officers from Kaneshie Police Command whilst the convict is a taxi driver residing at Abossey Okai.

He said on October 9, at about 1130 hours, while the team was on their patrol duty around Dansoman lorry station spotted they Samuel peddling in narcotic drugs.

He said upon a search on him by the team, the items as well as a pair of scissors, a lighter, a box of mat and an amount of GH? 65.00 were retrieved from a black bag he was holding.

The prosecution told the court that the convict was arrested and sent to the police station together with the stuff and detained for investigations.

Police Inspector Acheampong said Samuel in his investigation caution statement admitted the offence.
