Carpenter granted bail for assaulting tutor

The Winneba district magistrate court has granted bail to a 36-year-old carpenter in the sum of 1,000.00 Ghana cedis with one surety for assaulting a Potsin T. I. Ahmadiyya Senior High School tutor.

James Morrison accused the tutor of having an amorous relationship with his girlfriend. He pleaded not guilty and will re-appear on October 16.

Detective Police Sergeant Peter Agbelie told the court presided over by Mr. Charles Owusu Nssiah that the tutor, Mr. Stephen Kobina Appiah, visited one Jessica Addo whom he said was his friend on June 30 at Kojo Beedu in Winneba where she lives.

He said the accused who claimed he was in an amorous relationship with Jessica went to the house and met Jessica and Mr. Appiah in the living room chatting.

The accused suspected them of having an affair and furiously confronted Mr. Appiah and assaulted him. A report was made to the police and he was arrested.
