Japan would donate emergency vehicles and medical equipment worth $400,159.00 for Liberia and $397,749.00 for Sierra Leone to help combat the Ebola viral disease.
The signing ceremony of the Grant Contracts Regarding “Project for distribution of Emergency Vehicles and Medical Equipment for Ebola Virus Disease” for Liberia and Sierra Leone respectively took place today in Accra.
A statement issued by Mr Stanislaus Acquah, Public Relations/Cultural Clerk of the Embassy of Japan in Ghana and copied to Ghana News Agency said the ceremony was attended by Mr Kaoru Yoshimura, Ambassador of Japan, Musu Jatu Ruhle, Charge‘d Affairs of the Embassy of Liberia in Ghana, and Nasratha Bakie Remoe-Doherty, Charge‘d Affairs of the High Commission of Sierra Leone in Ghana.
It said through the project, Liberia would receive seven emergency vehicles and 48 beds, while Sierra Leone would receive six emergency vehicles and 47 beds.
“The project will be implemented in collaboration between the Government of Japan, the Society for Promotion of Japanese Diplomacy, DHL Global Forwarding Japan, and the Government of Liberia as well as Sierra Leone,” it stated.
