Teshie Road Project Still On Drawing Board

Six months after work was expected to be complete on the expansion of divergent roads in the Teshie area of the La-Tema road, it has not even started.

The project, aimed at reducing the usual heavy vehicular congestion along that segment of the road, was expected to be started in June last year and to be completed in two months, but to date, no single contractor has ever been seen at the site.

The Director, Department of Urban Roads, Mr. Alex Twumasi-Boakye, in an interview with the paper in Accra, regretted the long delay of the project.

According to him, after a comprehensive study of the situation, the department decided to change the initial plan, which would have been an interim one, to a more comprehensive and a long-term programme.
