Japan commended for supporting Nyinahin Electrification project

The Chiefs and people of Nyinahin in the Atwima District, have commended the Japanese government for the supporting an electrification project in the area with 50 billion cedis.

The Government of Ghana is providing seven billion cedis towards the project.

Mr Charles Yeboah, District Chief Executive (DCE), speaking at a ceremony to mark commencement of work on the project at Nyinahin also expressed gratitude to Japan for assisting the educational and health sectors and promoting the transfer of appropriate technology in the area.

He called for the establishment of “special relations” between the District and the Japanese Embassy to ensure the accelerated development of the District.

The DCE described the area as “the food basket” of the Ashanti Region and said the provision of electricity would enhance the exploitation of the bauxite and gold deposits and promote the establishment of small-scale industries.

Mr Yeboah said the project was in fulfilment of President J A Kufuor’s electoral promise to have the area connected to the national grid
