Armed Robbers inflict cutlass wounds on Assemblyman

Four masked armed robbers on Thursday broke into the room of Mr Samuel Egyire Nyarko, Assemblyman for Ahamadonko Electoral Area, and inflicted deep cutlass wounds on him.

The Agona Nyakrom District Police Commander, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Nana Ekow Yawson, told journalists that at about 2230 hours on October 2 the armed robbers broke into the room of the Assemblyman and demanded he gave them money.

DSP Yawson said when he was unable to satisfy them they inflicted cutlass wounds on him and he fell unconscious.

He said the robbers who though Mr Nyarko was dead left enabling the victim to be taken to the Agona Swedru Municipal Hospital.

The District Police Commander said the Assemblyman is responding to treatment.

Speaking to journalists at the hospital, Mr Nyarko expressed shock about the attack.
