Kwame Nkrumah roundabout opened to traffic

The Kwame Nkrumah roundabout in Takoradi, which was closed to traffic over four weeks to complete the 25 per cent of repair and damaged works on that portion of the road is now opened.

The Justmoh Construction Limited was contracted by city authorities somewhere last year to fix the damaged roundabout which was estimated to cost of one million Ghana cedis.

Though 75 per cent of the initially work was done, it had taken time to complete the final phase of the project.

Mr.Evans Aidoo, Western Regional Minister, together with his Deputy Mr. Alfred Gyan and City Mayor, Captain (Rtd) Anthony Cudjoe plus the Regional Commander and the Regional Urban Roads Engineer inspected the final phase and opened it to traffic as well.

The Minister was happy that motorists within the metropolis could now move about freely and the seemingly road congestion due to the project would be a thing of the past.

Mr.Aidoo said as part of the asphalt over-lay programme, most of the roads within the city were seeing a major face lift and mentioned the Effia, Kasaworondo, Shipper, SSNIT, NIB, Prestige as well as the rehabilitation of the airport roads.

He charged city authorities to seal all the pot holes on the roads.

Mr.Rosby Kome-Mensah, Regional Urban Roads Engineer, lauded the contractors for good work done and complained about pipelines which passes through main roads and poses extra cost to government anytime works had to be done on the road.
