MP calls for law to prevent position-seekers

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Effutu, Mr Mike Allen Hammah, has advocated the enactment of law to prevent political position-seekers, especially parliamentarians, from using monetary influence on the youth win their support.

According to Mr Hammah, subjecting the youth to monetary and alcoholic influences tend to make politicians to use them for their personal interest.

Such young men and women later become a liability to the communities in which they live and the nation in general, because they find it difficult do any gainful work.

Mr Hammah was addressing members of the Winneba-based Apostles Continuation Church at a special service on Sunday

He said the promulgation of a law banning prospective parliamentarians and other political position aspirants could also reduce electioneering malpractices.

He advised churches to be more proactive and come out with effective social and economic programmes that would enable them to make positive impact on their lives.
