Inter-Ministerial fun games to feature annually

The maiden Inter-Ministerial Sports and Recreational event has been held at the Accra Sports Stadium, with five ministries participating.

The Ministries of Education; Youth and Sports, Health, Interior, Employment and Labour Relations were the participants of the event, held at the weekend.

Mr. Cephas Adjei Mensah, Chairman of the Fun Games Planning Committee, told the Ghana News Agency in an interview that, sports and recreation were part of the duties of the Civil Service, hence the event.

“After some hectic work throughout the year, it is also important that we organize such games to do some exercises, socialize and make new friends, and we are going to make sure it becomes an annual event,” he said.

The event, he said, was also to commemorate the birthday Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, Ghana’s first President, on Sunday, September 21.

He expressed the hope that other ministries would join the event next year to make it more competitive and exciting.

Both men and women competed in games such as football, volley, ludu, tug of war, sack race and lime and spoon.
