Mr Omane, who was the IGP from March 1984 to June 1986m, died on September 11 at the Tema General Hospital after a short illness at the age of 88.

Dr Kofi Ofosu Omane, brother of the former IGP, announced the date at the one week celebration of his demise at his resident at EMEFS Estates near Tema.

Dr Omane said the funeral would be held at Kyebi in the Eastern Region as agreed upon by the family and the Okyehene, Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin II.

He explained that the need to seek permission from the Okyehene in fixing the date was due to the highest honour of “Okyeman Kanea” he conferred on the former IGP.

Former IGP Omane is survived by a daughter, Nana Yaa Omane-Peprah. The one week celebration was attended by a delegation of senior police officials from Tema, some former IGPs, military officers, friends and family members.
