‘Seek approval before demolition exercises’

The Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, has directed Chief Executive Officers of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) to seek its approval before embarking on any kind of demolition exercise in their communities.

A statement signed by the Minister, Mr Julius Debrah, and copied to the Ghana News Agency, in Accra, on Wednesday, warned: “any Chief Executive of MMDA who flouts the directive will have him or herself to blame”.

The statement said the directive took immediate effect.
