NHIA denies staff assault on journalist

The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) says manager of its district office in Ablekuma in the Greater Accra Region did not assault any staff of Adom FM as is being widely reported and that the assault may have been carried out by a member of the public.

The Authority said its own preliminary investigations reveal that none of its staff was in an African wear on that day contrary to what has been given out by the victim.

A statement issued by the Corporate Affairs Directorate of the Authority, however, notes that investigations are still ongoing.

“The Authority maintains that should any of its staff be found culpable for any acts of violence, appropriate disciplinary action would be taken.”

Last Thursday, the district manager of the Authority was alleged to have brutally assaulted Editor of Adom FM Afia Pokuaa and two others for recording mayhem at the Ablekuma office.

The journalists were reported to have sustained injuries.

The matter is under police investigations.
