Winneba Senior High gets Boys’ dormitory

Head of the Human Security Department of the National Security Council Secretariat, Brig-Gen Joseph Nunoo-Mensah (rtd), has appealed to politicians to stop playing political games with education, especially with senior high schools.

He said it was time politicians stopped playing to the gallery, always seeking to gain political advantage especially when elections were drawing near, and rather help to seek solutions to the ever growing problem of secondary education.

Brig-Gen Nunoo-Mensah said this at a durbar of stakeholders in education at a ceremony to inaugurate a boys’ dormitory block for Winneba SHS which was sponsored by Japanese government.

He said not only should education be tackled but also employment and other serious related issues facing the youth.

“If we do not pay sufficient attention to the development of the youth who are the future manpower of the country and create real jobs for them, we will pay a heavy price for that neglect in the very near future,” Brig-Gen Nunoo-Mensah said.

He said if the government of the First Republic had played political games with education, people of his generation would not have risen to the level they attained in their careers.

Brig-Gen Nunoo-Mensah said it was regrettable that many parents nowadays had no interest in the education of their children.

“We should prepare our students to be able to withstand the rigorous life that they will undoubtedly be confronted with these days when they leave school and find their place in society,” he said.
