Fifteen computers stolen from a school in Sekondi

Thieves on Monday broke into the computer laboratory of Nana Kobina Gyan cluster of schools in Sekondi stealing 15 computers and accessories worth thousands of Ghana Cedis.

The items were donated by the Member of Parliament for Sekondi, Papa Owusu Ankomah about two years ago, to facilitate teaching and learning of Information Communication Technology at the school.

The Supervisor in charge of Teaching and Learning at the Sekondi-Takoradi Education Directorate, Mr. Marcarious Zoogah, confirmed the theft to the Ghana News Agency on Monday.

He said although the items were housed in a burglar proof building the thieves managed to break into the facility and made away with the items.

Mr. Zoogah observed that the theft was made possible due to lack of security at the school and the isolation of the facility.

He said the matter had been reported to the police whilst the rest of the computers had been moved from the facility and kept in a private place as investigations continue.
