NPP race: Akufo-Addo induced delegates with Plasma TVs – Monah

PNC General Secretary Bernard Monah says the overwhelming victory of NPP flagbearer aspirant, Nana Akufo-Addo, in the party’s mini congress confirms claims that the former attorney general induced delegates with gifts.

Mornah said he is privy to reports that suggest the Akufo-Addo campaign team promised to offer television sets to regional branches of the party that gave him a hundred percent votes in the congress that reduced the number of aspirants from seven to five.

“I heard that when they were going for the elections, Nitiwul came to the Upper West with Nana Addo and said that any region that delivered a hundred percent for Nana Addo will be rewarded and am told the plasma TV was the prize that was offered and so they are happy that something was coming to the region” he alleged.

According to him, the offer influenced delegates of the Upper West region to give a hundred percent vote to the former foreign affairs minister.

“What it brings to the fore is that, the Upper West region took up the challenge and delivered a hundred percent. So does that mean that materialism is what characterized this election and is that what our politics has become?” the PNC Secretary fumed on Radio Gold Saturday.
