The Government of Ghana must do everything possible to keep Ebola at bay from the West African country, two-time presidential candidate, Nana Akufo-Addo, has said.
He says while it is important for Ghanaians to pray to avert an outbreak in the country, the government must also put in place all the necessary measures to make sure Ebola does not get anywhere near.
The former Attorney General suggested that screening measures be put in place at various entry points into the country to insulate Ghanaians from the disease.
The haemorrhagic virus has killed close to 2,000 people in the West African sub-region so far. Liberia, Guinea, Nigeria and Sierra Leone have taken a mighty lot of battery from the epidemic.
D R Congo and Senegal also confirmed new cases recently.
Several suspected cases have been tested in Ghana but proved negative.
The Government has designated three isolation centres in the Northern, Ashanti and Greater Accra Regions to quarantine any patient diagnosed with the disease, which has a mortality rate of between 50 and 90 percent.
Ebola is contracted through direct contact with fluids of infected people as well as the eating of bush meat: apes, antelopes and fruit bats.
