Somanya residents cry foul over constant disinter of dead bodies

In an interview with James Martin, a resident of Somanya, he reveals that the act of exhuming dead bodies from their graves is on the rise in the community.

According to him, some concerned members have reported the issue to authorities but adds that it has yielded no positive results.

In an interview with Peace FM 6pm News Bulletin on September 4, James Martin reports that it has become the habitual duty of gravediggers to calculate the number of days “dead bodies have stayed in the earth. If the bodies have remained there for more than six or eight months, they unearth it.”

“They constantly recycle the process of disinterring dead bodies.”

The cemetery according to James Martin, is located close to a Presbyterian school and a playground for children.

“They have buried bodies close to my house and a playground for children. Human remains like bones and skulls can be seen everywhere. We informed the town council authorities, and they came to stop them but within a short period, the gravediggers have started doing it again.”
