Calls for Alan to step down ‘needless and unreasonable’ – John Boadu

The National Organizer of the opposition New Patriotic Party, John Boadu says calls for the former Trade and Industry Minister and one of the NPP Presidential aspirants, Alan Kyeremateng to step down for Nana Addo to contest alone are “unreasonable and needless.”

Speaking on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo, John Boadu held strongly that it is premature for any person to call on Mr. Alan Kyeremateng and the other two aspirants not to contest the October 18th flagbearership congress.

According to him, the Presidential aspirants should be given the freedom to persevere in their quest to lead the NPP, come October 18.

He further stated that, should all three aspirants; Alan Kyeremateng, Addai-Nimo and Osei Ameyaw, even decide not to run for the flagbearership, the October 18th Super Delegates Congress will still hold.

“Those calls were too early; were too unreasonable. It was too unreasonable and too early in the day…It’s unnecessary. It’s needless.”

He also advised the campaign strategists and communicators for the aspirants to be decorous towards each other and refrain from the use of invectives and inappropriate utterances.

Reacting to rumours that he (John Boadu) and some leaders have met with the aspirants to dissuade them from contesting Nana Addo, John Boadu disclosed that the meeting was arranged to commend the aspirants for endeavours during the Special Congress on Sunday, August 31, 2014.

“We went to congratulate them for having the boldness and the confidence to put themselves up,” this he said, debunking claims that they might have cajoled the other aspirants on behalf of the 2012 NPP flagbearer.
