‘Ghana needs Alan to succeed’

Spokesperson for the Alan Kyeremanten campaign, Nana Ohene Ntow, has said Ghana, as a matter of necessity, requires the “proven” leadership of his boss to succeed.

According to the former general secretary of the main opposition New Patriotic Party, the former trade Minister’s expertise in commerce, is urgently needed to turn the country into a major production hub in the West African sub – region.

“Alan has a proven record of delivery. He delivered excellently when president Kufuor put him in charge of the special initiatives. At least for his hard work, the Ayensu starch factory is working and producing cassava to support many businesses in the country.

“Even other countries around us have recognised his talents and have made good use of him so why not Ghana? In fact I am amazed that such a great person is the one our party elders are asking to back out of the race. I think the nation is rather blessed to have him. He shouldn’t be hated, he must not be treated this way”, he lamented on Adom FM, Thursday.

The former Ghana ambassador to the US is among four other people including two-time presidential candidate of the opposition party, Nana Akufo-Addo, seeking to be elected as flagbearer for the 2016 elections in the October conference.

Kyeremanten, however, failed to impress in last Sunday’s Super delegates’ elections, which was used to whittle down the number of aspirants from seven to five.

Akufo-Addo carried the day with over 80 percent of the votes.
