Bastiat Society MD appears in court for fraud

Dr. Tweneboah Senzu, 38-year old Managing Director of Bastiat Society Ghana, on Tuesday appeared before Takoradi Circuit Court “A” for allegedly defrauding an Agro Chemical Company of 22,516 Ghana Cedis.

His plea was not taken and the Court presided by Mrs. Rita Abena Abrokwa, granted him bail in the sum of 8,000 Ghana Cedis with two sureties, one of whom should be a public servant who earns a monthly salary not less than 3,000 Ghana Cedis.

The accused is to re-appear on September 9 this year for his plea to be taken.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Fuseini Yakubu, said the accused who claimed he was also the Managing Director of Matrix Mind Consulting Limited defrauded Seth Ohene, Manager of Janeset Agro Chemicals of 22,516 Ghana Cedis in a cocoa fertilizer deal for farmers at Asasetre, Gwira Banso area and other communities in the latter part of 2012.

He said the accused succeeded in obtaining 433 bags of cocoa fertilizer from Ohene’s company but failed to pay for them.

Chief Inspector Yakubu said the case was taken to court in July 2013 but the accused failed to appear and the court issued a bench warrant for arrest in February this year.

He said the accused who had been on the run was arrested in Takoradi on August 28 this year and arraigned.
