I have not been promised any gov’t appointment – Sir John

Former General Secretary of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie has said that his dream to see the party’s two-time presidential candidate, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo become Ghana’s next president is not for any “presidential appointment” promised him by the latter.

Sir John as he is popularly known described as false for anyone to think that his dyed-in-the-wool support for Nana Addo to be president is for an appointment.

According to him, in as much as he wants Nana Addo to lead the NPP and the country, he has “not been promised and not expecting” any government role in a Nana Addo-led administration, thus if Nana Addo becomes President.

Speaking to the press after Nana Addo topped the five finalists contesting for the NPP flagbearer race after the Supper Delegates’ Congress to trim down the presidential hopefuls from seven to five last Sunday; Sir John maintained that, no amount of hatred within the elephant fraternity will shrink his love and support for Nana Addo.

Adding that, “Even if I am poverty-stricken, I will wash cars to campaign for Nana Addo to be President… He is the man of the moment.”
