AMA condemns attack on Dr Vanderpuije

The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has cautioned church leaders to be circumspect in their comments about government officials.

The assembly members gave the warning in reaction to a media report calling for the dismissal of Dr Alfred Oko Vanderpuije, AMA Chief Executive for incompetence.

A statement read on behalf of the assemblymen by Mr Isaac Bright Assah, Assemblyman for New Memprobi urged religious leaders to avoid making allusions that would offend others in the society.

Mr Assah said although the AMA has some challenges that should not be used to make negative assessment of the performance of the Dr Vanderpuije, who is putting in all efforts to clear filth in the city.

He said through the initiative of the Metropolitan Chief Executive AMA in collaboration with Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, has acquired land concessions at Nsumia in the Ga West Municipality and another in Ga South for dumping sites.

Mr Assah said all these efforts and others are being put in place by Dr Vanderpuije to make the metropolis a millennium city for residents to live in a disease-free environment.
