Police appeals for more public support

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Fredrick Mensah, the Atwima-Mponua District Commander, has called for more public support in the fight to bring down crime in the area.

He said it was important for the people to provide the police with useful leads to arrest and to bring to justice criminals in their communities.

DSP Mensah was inaugurating two community neighbourhood watch committees at Kansakrom and Manukrom at separate ceremonies.

He said security could not be taken for granted and that all should share in the responsibility of making sure that those who had chosen to live outside the law did not hold the rest of the population to ransom.

The Police Commander cautioned members of the committee not to do things their own way but to operate strictly within the law.

They should hand over criminal suspects to the police and desist from manhandling any such person.

He encouraged the formation of neighbourhood watch committees in the various communities to ensure that there were no safe havens for the miscreants.
