Minister condemns interference in police work

The Eastern Regional Minister, Mr Antwi-Bosiako Sekyere, has appealed to people in high positions to stop interfering with cases being handled by the police.

“This same people in high positions are the very people who are the target of the robbers and when they are attacked, then they want the police to act” he said.

The Regional Minister, who is also the acting Birim Central Municipal Chief Executive, was speaking at a meeting with heads of department of the Municipal Assembly at Akim Oda.

The Municipal Chief Executive, Madam Ophelia Koomson, has ended her term of office and handed over to the Regional Minister until a new appointment by the President.

Mr Antwi-Bosiako said the government was committed to motivating workers in the public sector in any way possible and this should encourage workers to do their best to make the public sector effective to increase productivity.

The workers raised concerns about the deplorable roads in the region but the Regional Minister assured that, soon work would start on the Suhum-Asamankese road, Asamankese-Kade and Asamankese-Nsawam roads.
