Mother stabs son to death

A 42 year-old mother of five, Philomena Biadoo, at the weekend stabbed her son to death at Tarkwa Breman in the Western Region.

The deceased, Theophilus Biadoo, 24, is alleged to have been stabbed sixty one times on the chest and lower abdomen when he attacked his mother with a knife.

The incident happened around 4.30 a.m. on Saturday and the body has been deposited at the Wassa Akropong Government Hospital for autopsy.

The Prestea Police Commander, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Timothy Dassah, who disclosed this in an interview with the Ghana News Agency at Tarkwa Breman, said the suspect was in Police custody to assist in investigations.

He said the suspect, a petty trader and farmer, lived with her children including the deceased who is her eldest son, in her uncompleted apartment at Tarkwa Breman.

DSP Dassah said on the day of the incident, while the suspect was attending to natures call at a toilet facility closer to her house, she saw the deceased heading towards her direction with a knife.

He said the suspect came out of the toilet facility and started screaming for help but the deceased chased her around the compound and in the process she fell and the deceased stabbed her on the left arm.

DSP Dassah said a struggle ensued between them and the suspect got hold of the knife stabbed her son several times on the chest and lower abdomen.

He said a family member who heard of the incident rushed to the scene to separate the two but when he got there, the deceased has already passed away.

According to the Police Commander, information gathered by the Police indicated that the deceased had been a drug addict since he was 17 years.

Some weeks ago, the deceased had a misunderstanding with the suspect who poured hot oil on him but the matter was not reported to the Police, DSP Dassah said.
