Agyepong never erred in “sacking” Perry – Ken Agyapong

An outspoken New Patriotic Party MP, Kennedy Agyapong, has said he sees “nothing wrong” with the decision of the party’s general secretary asking the communications director to proceed on leave.

However, he believes the wrangling that has hit the opposition party could have been avoided if Kwabena Agyepong had consulted the steering committee of the party over the decision.

The NPP chief scribe last week asked the party’s communications director Perry Okudzeto to proceed on leave – a decision which has been met with stiff opposition.

A press conference to explain the reasons behind the decision turned bloody as angry machete-wielding supporters threatened to kill the general secretary.

Speaking to Adom FM, the maverick politician expressed surprise at the reactions that have met the directive.

“I really don’t see why people should be worried that Perry is being asked to proceed on leave,” the legislator said. “These things are normal, if you work for long and someone says you should go, I don’t think the party members should fight over this. But I think the problem is the fact that Kwabena failed to communicate the decision to the steering committee.”

He, however, noted his disappointment in the Afoko-led administration.

“I have already stated my disappointment in them although I campaigned for them. But I also blame our delegates, they took Ghc100 from the highest bidder to vote. So we must all share the blame,” the Assin South MP stated.
