EC describes exercise as peaceful and successful in the W/R

Mr. Steve Opoku-Mensah, Western Regional Director of the Electoral Commission of Ghana on Thursday described the just ended limited Voter Registration exercise in the Region as peaceful and successful.

He told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview at Sekondi on Thursday that the voter turn-out was encouraging in all the 575 centres across the Region.

However, Mr. Opoku-Mensah said the District Registration Review Committee has been mandated to look into the alleged registration of some 15 Togolese in the Ahanta West District of the Region.

The EC director said the limited voter registration was to allow Ghanaians who had attained the voting age of 18 years and of sound mind as well as those who could not register in the last registration exercise in 2012.
