Police urged to eschew shoddy investigations

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Yaagy Akuribah, Eastern Regional Commander, has admonished police detectives at the Criminals Investigations Department (CID) of Ghana Police Service to shun shoddy investigations into suspected criminal cases.

He explained that, shoddy investigations undermine the integrity of the Police Service.

DCOP Akuribah was speaking at the opening of a-two-week in-service training course for 203 Police detectives to sharpen their skills in Koforidua.

The participants were drawn from Nkawkaw, Akyem Oda, Kyebi, Akropong-Akuapem, Akosombo and Koforidua Divisions of the Service in the Eastern Region.

DCOP Akuribah urged the detectives to meticulously probe eye-witnesses accounts to make sure they get the best evidences to support their cases.

He advised divisions, units and station commanders in the region to desist from turning police vehicles into their private cars as the vehicles are meant for general police work.
