Long queues on last day of voter registration

Eligible voters rushed to some registration centres in the Sunyani Municipality to register in the ongoing registration exercise which ends on Wednesday, August 13.

There were queues at the Twene Amanfo SHS, Victoria Park Area One and Methodist Primary ‘A’ centres at New Town visited by the Ghana News Agency (GNA).

The registration officers told the Ghana News Agency that the exercise was without hitches but were worried about the rush on the last day.

Mr Awudu Dauda, Registration Officer at Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) centre, said about 278 voters registered during the period.

He said out of the figure 223 were men and 55 women and the exercise went on without any hitch except that the turn-out, generally, was low.
