A nine-day peace summit aimed at gathering views and ideas from the youth in the policy formulation of some African countries would be held in August this year.
Over 250 participants from 27 African countries are expected to attend.
The summit would bring together representatives and professionals from Canada to share information on peace building, leadership, meditation and conflict resolution programmes.
The summit would focus on youth leadership in a changing world, conflict management and resolution mediation among other things, and come out with a document recommending policy improvements, support and implementation to participating countries.
The Canadian Global Youth Advocacy Initiatives (CGYAI), based in Canada, the National Youth Council (NYC) and the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) are organising the summit.
At a press briefing on Friday in Accra, Mr David Millen, spokesperson for the organisers said the aim of the summit to be held in Kumasi, is to exchange information, learn about the role young people could play in their communities and the value of living in a peaceful world.
He said such a summit was crucial because of the trend of conflicts and wars involving mostly young people who are the worst victims in the case of such crisis.
Mr Millen said it was high time the young ones were involved in issues and decisions affecting the general well being of society since they would be the future leaders.
Mr Joe Mantey, National Co-ordinator of the National Youth Council said the Council fully endorses the summit because topics to be discussed were very laudable which would help bring and maintain the peace needed in Africa.
Some of the participating countries are, Ivory Coast, Libya, Cape Verde, Congo, Morocco, Senegal and Nigeria.
