Bagbin assumes office as majority leader in Parliament

Member of Parliament for Nadowli Kaleo in the Upper West Region of Ghana, Alban Bagbin, has assumed office as the new majority leader of Parliament.

Bagbin is replacing Dr. Benjamin Kunbour, who is currently Ghana’s Minister of Defence.

Bagbin told Radio Ghana that the House needs to fully engage in the constitutional amendments that are taking place.

He said he would be pushing for the establishment of a legal unit in Ghana’s Parliament to strengthen the House’s scrutinising role.

Bagbin also called on Ghanaians to have more confidence in leadership at all levels.

He said it is only through the support and encouragement of Ghanaians that the leaders can live up to the billing.
