NPP complains over faulty machines

The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has registered its strong protest against the increasing number of faulty biometric machines at some of the registration centres in the Ashanti Region.

The party is afraid that the faulty machines could prevent people in the region who are eligible to register from doing so.

Sam Pyne, the Ashanti Regional Scribe of the NPP had said that the EC should come out to explain why most of the biometric machines in the region have developed faults.

He said the faulty machines were rampant at Kwanwoma, Ahenema Kokoben, Ejisu and other electoral areas in the region.

Sam Pyne also complained that several people have not been able to register because of the faulty biometric machines.

According to the NPP Scribe, “The NPP is expecting the EC to make sure that machines are repaired so that any person who is eligible to register could do so,” Mr Pyne added.

Sam Pyne also expressed his unhappiness about the low turnout of people for the national exercise and apportioned the blamed to the EC for its failure to publicise the event well.

The NPP Secretary descended heavily on the NDC’s decision to visit the registration centres with macho men, saying they have been interfering with the registration process at some areas, calling for a stop to it to ensure peace.

Sam Pyne cautioned Kojo Bonsu, the KMA Boss, to stop visiting the registration centres with his bodyguard, and allow the process go on smoothly.

He urged people in the city to be vigilant at the registration centres so that nobody would take the law into his or her hands.
