Priests reminded of their obligation to society

A priest has said the respect and honour accorded to priests by society was not their right but a privilege to enable them fulfill their responsibility to society.

He said members of society including those in their congregation and their own families would always remind priests of their obligation to society whenever they were found to be shirking their duties.

Venerable Felix Kofi Annancy, Archdeacon of the Oda Archdeaconry of the Koforidua Diocese of the Anglican Church, said this in a sermon at the ordination of four persons into the priesthood at Kibi Saint Mark Anglican Church.

The new priests are Rev. Peter Kwesi Otoo, Eastern Regional Manager of the Anglican Education Unit, Rev Felix Bentil Arthur Junior, a freight forwarder based in Tema, Rev Stanley Tetteh Glover, a laboratory Technician and Rev Samuel O. Siwoniku of Krobo Odumase.

The ordination ceremony was conducted by the Bishop of the Koforidua Diocese of the Anglican Church, Rt Rev. Francis Benjamin Quashie.

Venerable Annancy reminded the new priests that they should always remember that they did not appoint themselves to be priests but were chosen by God and so when they have challenges they should pray for God’s guidance and directions. He urged the congregation to always pray for the new priests for them to be honest and truthful to their calling.
