Focus more on disease prevention – Dr Normeshie

Dr Anthony Normeshie, Executive Director of Health For All Herbal Clinic and Research Centre, has asked health practitioners to focus more on educating the people on disease prevention.

He said this could be done by organizing programmes to school the citizenry on preventive measures rather than treatment to reduce disease outbreaks.

Dr Normeshie gave the advice in an interview with the Ghana News Agency at a health education programme organized by his outfit at Oworam, near Asamankese, in the Eastern Region.

The programme was supported by the Asamankese District Health Directorate and the Third Force Mineral Water Company at Asamankese.

It was aimed at creating Hepatitis ‘B’ awareness, which also formed part of the Clinic’s activities to mark the World Hepatitis Day.

Dr Normeshie, also a member of the Ghana AIDS Commission, said the sensitization was important since majority of Ghanaians do not have any idea on the Hepatitis ‘B’ ailment.

He said his outfit: “Health For All Herbal Clinic would soon achieve a level of clinical and service excellence that will raise the standards on the practice and administration of alternative medicine.”

Mr Abdul Aziz Abdulai, West Akyem District Director of Health Services urged the people to go in for regular medical check-ups to ensure a disease-free life.

Nana Akua Arko I, Queen of Asamankese Ladies, said the youth, being the driving force of the country, should always examine their health status.

A massive free-screening and vaccination exercises was also held during the programme at Asamankese.

Madam Gladys Osafo-Kissi, Headmistress of the Asamankese Presby ‘A’ Junior High School praised the exercise and expressed gratitude to the organisers.
