NGO donates to schools in Effutu Municipality

The Chosen Generation Young Stars, a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) based in London has donated teaching and learning materials worth over GH¢ 30,000 to some selected schools in the Effutu Municipality.

The items are made up of 120 slates, 1,200 exercises books, set of rules boards, boxes of pens and color pencils, teachers note books and erasers. The donations were presented to the Effutu Municipal Directorate of Ghana Education Service for distribution to the Presbyterian Primary, A.M.E Zion A & B and Municipal Assembly A & B Schools.

Nana Agyire Quainoo and Miss. Sandra Serwah Ghartey-Tagoe, both from Winneba and currently based in London as well as members of the NGO made the presentation on behalf of the NGO at a ceremony held at the office of the GES in Winneba.

The Chosen Generation Young Stars is an Organization made up young scholars and solicits fund to purchase teaching and learning materials for venerable students and pupils to assist them in their education.

Nana Quainoo said he came to Ghana last year and visited the said schools and their plight touched him; hence together with his colleagues in London, they solicited for funds to purchase the items to boost the morale of the pupils.

Mrs. Hilda Hagan, Effutu Municipal Director of Education, who received the Items, expressed her gratitude to the donors and appealed to other philanthropists and NGO’s to extend a helping hand to schools in the area to augment what government was offering to enhance teaching and learning in the country.

Mrs. Duncan Williams, Head teacher of one of the beneficiary Schools, on behalf of his colleague heads, thanked the donors for the gesture and said the items will go a long way to promote education in the municipality.
