E/R: Youth clash with police, soldiers over car crash that killed 4

Some angry youth of Akote in the Suhum Municipality of Ghana’s Eastern region, clashed with Police and soldiers on Sunday morning.

The youth had blocked the road that traverses through the community in protest to the knocking down and killing of four locals on Saturday by four travelling fetish priests who were moving together in three cars.

Local journalist, Daniel Bampoe, told StarrFMonline.com that the confrontation between the angry youth and the Police started when the townsfolk blocked the road to prevent cars from commuting through Akote.

The youth also vandalised the billboard of one of the fetish priests to express their anger at them for causing the death of the four townsfolk.

The Police, according to Daniel Bampoe, had to fire tear gas and also use other crowd-control methods to hold the club and crude-weapon-wielding angry youth at bay. They sought help from soldiers in the area to bring the situation under control.
