Prez Cuts Sod For Tetteh Quarshie Interchange

President John Agyekum Kufuor is expected to cut the sod today Friday, January 17, for the construction of a traffic interchange at the Tetteh-Quarshie roundabout.

The interchange is to replace the largest roundabout in the country to ease traffic on the Accra-Madina road and the Tema Motorway which intercept each other at the Tetteh Quarshie roundabout.

It also forms part of government’s vision to build and improve on the nation’s infrastructure to aid the economic development of the people.

When constructed, the Tetteh-Quarshie interchange would be the second after the Sankara Interchange which was built by the previous government.

President Kufuor in his five priority areas in rebuilding Ghana’s economy made infrastructure the pivot upon which the other four areas could take off.

Traced to this, the government in December last year cut the sod for the construction of a 6-lane carriage way from Kwame Nkrumah Circle to Achimota in Accra.

The 6-lane carriage way forms part of the re-building of the Accra-Kumasi highway.

The government has given the assurance that the Accra-Aflao and Accra-Cape Coast roads would be began this year.
