Organized labor is a “fake” organization – Kofi Wayo

Maverick politician, Kofi Wayo, has lambasted Organized Labor for its decision to embark on a one-day strike action over worsening economic conditions in the country.

Organized Labor has set Thursday July 24, for a nationwide demonstration and directed its members not to show up for work on the day. They say the government through its recent economic policies has failed to sympathize with the worsening living standards of the ordinary Ghanaian.

Commenting on the matter on Monday, the United Renaissance Party Founder said the move is an attempt by the leadership of Organized Labor to hide their incompetence from their members.

He said the leadership of the labor unions has over the years failed to champion the course of their members. “The TUC is a fake organization. Many of their leaders are sitting on the boards of several state companies and yet they claim they are suffering; they are not serious” Mr Wayo fumed.

He said although he believes in the constitutional rights of individuals to demonstrate, it must be done on good grounds.

According to the former board member of the Energy Commission, until Ghanaians change their attitudes towards national politics, not much can be achieved by political leaders regardless of their intentions.

Mr Wayo made the comments when he spoke on Accra-based private Radio Okay FM. He urged President John Mahama to ensure that heads of public institutions remain accountable for their stewardship while in office.
