Help resolve Klagon chieftaincy issue

Nii Bortey Klan, Chief of Klagon, near Adjei Kojo, has petitioned the Registrar of the National House of Chiefs, to ensure the amicable settlement of the chieftaincy problem facing the town.

Nii Klan made the petition in an interview with the Ghana News Agency at his residence at Klagon.

He said, having been the substantive chief of Klagon for the past 11 years, he learnt with surprise a June publication in the Daily Guide, purporting that the Nungua Traditional Council had inducted 10 divisional chiefs for various communities within the traditional area, including Klagon.

Nii Klan said he was gazetted by the National House of Chiefs on April 12, 2012, and that the action of the Nungua Traditional Council, therefore, constituted a breach of the law, because it has the potential to cause fear, panic and chaos within the Klagon Township.

Nii Klan said, as a peace-loving chief, he has sent copies of the petition to the Minister of Chieftaincy and Traditional Affairs, the Registrar of the Greater-Accra Regional House of Chiefs, the Greater-Accra Regional Minister, and the divisional and district Police Commanders of Nungua and Sakomono.

Nii Klan therefore appealed to the Registrar to expedite action on the matter, to bring sanity into the area because of the possibility of chieftaincy conflict resulting to chaos and anarchy.

Last month, the Nungua Traditional Council inducted into office 10 divisional chiefs, including Nii Laryea Gyewohene, as the chief of Klagon.
