Trainee nurses, midwives to go on demo July 7

Members of the Ghana Nurses and Midwives Trainees’ Association are bracing up to hit the streets on Monday, July 7 following an inconclusive meeting they had with the Minister of Health.

The Association told TV3 on Wednesday, July 2 that Ms Sherry Hanny Ayittey was not definite on when allowances owed members will be paid.

The President of the Association, Emmanuel Geyovo, said members are not happy with government’s commitment and have withdrawn their services with immediate effect, as a first action, awaiting to cap it with the planned demonstration.

“Government is really not listening to us,” Mr Geyovo lamented.

“The Association has really lost confidence in the government.”

Kwaku Asante-Krobea, the President of the Ghana Registered Nurses Association (GRNA), lent credence to the “agreement” between the trainees and the Minister but said his Association is not “too happy” with it.
