Clash between police and poly students at Education Ministry

A resistance by the police to a purported visit by members of the Central Committee of the country’s ten polytechnics to the Ministry of Education on Wednesday, July 2 resulted in a clash between the students and police officers.

The students claim the “visit” was over the seeming neglect of the Ministry to the strike declared by Polytechnic Teachers’ Association of Ghana (POTAG) on May 15, this year.

But according to the police, the action of the students was a violation of the Public Order Act.

The students, on the other hand, complain the police have turned down several requests tendered for escort.
